About TK Fitness PGH
Over a decade on the floor, one client at a time.
TK Fitness PGH is a private training practice in Pittsburgh. No franchise, no sales floor, and nobody handing you off to a different trainer next month.
Tom K.
Hey guys! This is actually me talking to you here and not a web designer, so congratulations on finding this little Easter egg I’ve hidden for you! Let me tell you a little bit about myself:
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA with working-class parents who set a good example of hard work and determination both inside and outside of the gym. I played a lot of sports growing up but I finally settled on ice hockey as my main focus. After school I ended up gaining some weight and getting out of shape due to my lack of activity. Luckily I had good examples set before me, so I once again committed myself to a healthy lifestyle. This second act in my own health and fitness journey has led me to becoming a competitive jiu jitsu athlete, kickboxing practitioner, and a coach with over a decade of experience who understands how hard it can be to make these difficult lifestyle changes. I believe workouts should be fun, challenging, and sustainable, and I will structure your own personal program as such.
Some clients do boxing work with me as conditioning, which is a genuinely good way to get your heart rate up without spending an hour on a treadmill.
How I work
- Every client starts with a comprehensive assessment to set our baseline
- A program is designed specifically for you, your goals, and your lifestyle
- Education and insight on healthy eating habits
- Adjustments to the program and nutrition as we progress
Where we train
A private studio in the Pittsburgh area, or online from wherever you are. The consultation is free either way.
Why private, and not a gym floor
Big box gyms only care about one thing: their bottom line. If you’ve worked in any corporate setting then you already know. I, on the other hand, genuinely care about each individual client, their health and wellbeing, and their progress. Also, with me there are no memberships, dues, or contracts*. You get exactly what you pay for, and we train in a clean, modern, private studio facility where YOU are the sole focus.
* No contract applies to in-studio training. Online coaching runs on a six-month commitment, for the reasons set out on that page.
What I do not do
These things are all worth mentioning, just so there’s no confusion.
- I do not pitch supplements or any other upsells. This is training and nutritional education only
- I am not a physical therapist, but our program can absolutely work in conjunction with your PT
- I do not make promises on how fast you will progress. I will educate and guide you through all of this, but the work and commitment is up to you
- I do not pass you off to someone else. I will be with you for the duration of your program
- No large-group or bootcamp training. This is 1-on-1 work
Where to start
Most people start in person to build a solid foundation and routine. Good form is crucial to avoid injury and get the most out of your workouts. If your schedule or location does not allow for in-person, the online coaching option gives you the same workout programming and nutritional expertise with the added flexibility of being able to work out at your own facility on your own schedule. One conversation, then a plan.
The first step is a conversation, not a sales pitch. Phone, email or video call, whichever you prefer. You talk through your goal, your schedule and anything your body is currently unhappy about, and then you decide.
- A movement assessment before any program gets written
- In the studio in Pittsburgh, or coached online from anywhere
- The same coach every session, start to finish
