The whole hour belongs to you

Private 1-on-1 training means nobody is splitting attention between you and two other clients. Every set gets watched, the load gets adjusted while you are still under the bar, and if you walk in with a sore shoulder the session changes to suit.

The studio itself is a private floor in the Pittsburgh area, with a rack, a barbell, plates, dumbbells and kettlebells. No queue for equipment, and no audience.

What the first session looks like

  • A quick chat to recap our initial consultation
  • A comprehensive movement assessment
  • A light, full body workout (excluding any injuries) to establish our baseline
  • Exercises, sets, and reps tracked in the book

Your custom program

Realistically most people can’t make it in-person 3-5 days a week, so a customized plan is provided for the rest of the week based on your specific goals and abilities.

  • A weekly routine that fits your lifestyle and equipment
  • Exercise selection based on your goals and abilities
  • Changes and adjustments made as you progress

Nutritional coaching and education

Everyone has different nutritional needs and dietary preferences. I offer in-depth discussion and coaching about how to structure long-term, sustainable eating habits that will help you reach your goals and have you feeling and performing your best.

Who it suits

If you are able to make it in person to the studio, it will always be the best option. Starting in-person is also highly recommended for anyone new to exercise, as well as anyone with pre-existing conditions such as lower back pain, knee issues, or shoulder injuries. In-person sessions ensure that we are using correct form with the correct weight and exercise selections.

There is no contract or commitment for in-person sessions, and the studio gym is closed to the public, which means you won’t be working out in front of an audience or waiting on equipment. If your schedule or location does not permit you to train in person, then online coaching may be the better option for you.

FAQ

Questions about this service

No, and most people who get in touch are not. Plenty are starting over, coming back from an injury, or have never worked with a coach before. Tom is a Corrective Exercise specialist, so most injuries are no problem. The first session is an assessment rather than a test, and the first program is built for the body you have right now.

In a private studio in the Pittsburgh area. It is a real gym floor with a rack, a barbell, plates, dumbbells and kettlebells, and there is no crowd to work around. You get the exact address when you book.

Plenty of clients train once a week with Tom and handle the rest of the week on their own program. Twice a week moves faster. The honest answer is that the right frequency is the one you will actually keep, and that is worth talking through on the consultation.

A quick chat to recap our initial consultation, a comprehensive movement assessment, and a light full body workout to establish our baseline, excluding anything you are injured on. Exercises, sets and reps get tracked in the book from day one.

Yes, as coaching rather than a rigid meal plan. The work is habits, protein, portions and building meals you will actually cook again. There are no supplements to buy.

In-studio sessions are priced per hour, with no gym membership fees or contracts. Online coaching is priced separately and runs on a six month commitment. Tom will walk you through both on the consultation, which is free either way.

Start where you are

One conversation, then a plan.

The first step is a conversation, not a sales pitch. Phone, email or video call, whichever you prefer. You talk through your goal, your schedule and anything your body is currently unhappy about, and then you decide.

  • A movement assessment before any program gets written
  • In the studio in Pittsburgh, or coached online from anywhere
